Artist Sharing by AJIM

Raja Azeem Idzham, or more popularly known as Ajim Juxta, may have started out his career as an architect, but it wasn’t long before he realised his true passion was in art.

He soon began his artistic journey by participating in art bazaars such as Bijou, Arts for Grab and the Klang Valley art bazaar circuit, and working with various mediums and visual art forms including pen and ink illustrations, found-object sculptures, and paint on canvas.

Today, the 33-year-old has grown to become a household name in the local art scene. In 2014, he started Galeri Titikmerah with two legendary local artists, Adeputra Masri and Latif Masri.

Ajim’s work has even received international acclaim. He was recently awarded the Young Art Award at the Young Art Taipei 2016 art fair in Taiwan for a series of work he dubbed ‘Arcology’.

Despite his successes, Ajim says he is constantly growing as an artist and is always exploring and experimenting with new media. He is also an avid musician, and performs with indie band ‘Juxtaposed, which he formed with its four other bandmates.

To Ajim, it is important for artists to have different means of expressing themselves. “Whenever I write (music), I sketch, and whenever I sketch, I write. I find this important in my process as an artist,” he says.

So come and listen to his talk and songs.
